LENOX, MA (July 20, 2015) – About four years ago Madison Braman attended a free golf clinic at a range near her Loudonville, NY, home, hoping to pick up a tip or two to make her a better player at her new-found passion, golf.
Little did she know that the 30-minute clinic would change her life.
She was so impressed by the golf instructor that day, Kay McMahon, that she became a full-time student at McMahon’s eduKaytion golf school. And her junior career has skyrocketed since.
Braman has twice won the Northeastern New York Junior Golf Tour Player of the Year Award for her age group (13-15). And she recently became the first NNYPGA female junior golfer to make it to the New York State High School golf championship since former LPGA Tour star Dottie Pepper did it in 1983.
Now comes another honor. Braman received one of two sponsor exemptions into the Symetra Tour’s Fuccillo Kia Championship July 24-26 at Capital Hills Golf Club in Albany, NY. She will play alongside professionals on the LPGA’s developmental tour.
Her coach, Hall Of Fame instructor Kay McMahon, isn’t surprised.
“She works diligently on drills and knowing her own swing” said McMahon, a LPGA Hall of Fame instructor. “She has a positive and fearless attitude during competition. With her talent, personality, strength and great work ethic, I can see her going on to be in the next generation of super stars on the LPGA Tour. She truly has a classic swing.”
Braman credits McMahon and her Golf 8.5 teaching system for that swing.
“She basically rebuilt my swing,” said Madison. “She teaches the fundamentals of the swing in such a simple way that it was easy to understand. It’s an advantage to have a fundamentally correct swing that you know, because when something goes wrong you can easily make adjustments.”

Braman, who carries a 1.4 handicap, has realistic goals for the upcoming Symetra Tour event.
“It would be nice to make the cut, but I just want to play my best golf,” she said. “I don’t want to stress myself out by trying to shoot a number. These are professionals I will be competing against. I just want to play well and try to learn as much as I can.”
That last statement brings a smile to McMahon’s face.
“Madison is hungry for knowledge,” said McMahon, who is based at Cranwell Resort & Spa in Lenox, MA. “She has amazing focus and drive for someone her age.” The dedication and hard work shows up in the classroom as well, where she carries a 3.94 GPA.
The Golf 8.5 system that McMahon used to construct Braman’s swing starts from the beginning and allows students to understand the how and why of the golf swing. It covers swing principles and cause and effect of ball flight, and provides a simple step-by-step approach to swinging a club efficiently.”
