MOUNT PLEASANT, SC — (July 27, 2015) – The Third Annual Mount Pleasant Charity Pro/Am Open, presented by Southern Eagle Distributing, at Patriots Point Links on Charleston Harbor is set for Friday, July 31, through Sunday, August 2. As in previous years, the tournament will raise money to assist cancer patients, particularly those in the Charleston area with connections to Patriots Point.

“We started this tournament to benefit the community and establish a competitive Pro/Am tournament in this area,” says Brad Parker, PGA, general manager of Patriots Point. “It’s a fun event that’s also competitive and it’s for a great cause, so we urge people to come out and enjoy this event.”

This year’s recipient is 31-year-old Trevor Scott, who was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer that affects the blood plasma cells in the bone marrow. Since the Pro/Am was introduced in 2013, Patriots Point has raised more than $7,000 that has been donated to the American Cancer Society and to local cancer patients. This year’s goal is $5,000.

Three divisions of play are offered: Championship Division for professionals and amateurs, Open Division for amateurs, and Senior Division for players ages 55 and up. All players will play 54 holes of golf over the three-day tournament.

The cost is $210 per player for three days of competition, cart and greens fees, food and beverages. Each participant will also receive a free pair of Adidas Gripmore Sport golf shoes. Southern Eagle Distributing is a major sponsor of this year’s Mount Pleasant Charity Pro/Am Open.

Patriots Point Links on Charleston Harbor was founded in 1979. The par-72 course, designed by William Byrd, is located on the Charleston Harbor. The club’s 17th hole, an island green with sweeping views of Fort Sumpter, Shem Creek and the historic Charleston downtown skyline, has been repeatedly named “Best Par 3 in the Lowcountry.” The course was also rated “South Carolina Course of the Year” for 2001 by the National Golf Course Owners Association.

Registration forms are available online. To register for the Mount Pleasant Pro/Am Charity Tournament, to book a Tee Time or for more information, visit www.patriotspointlinks.com or call 843-881-0042.
