Meredith Bock is this year’s Don E. Beattie scholarship recipient
Atlantis, FL – The South Florida PGA Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce this year’s Don E. Beattie scholarship recipient is Meredith Bock of Jupiter, Florida. Annually the SFPGA Foundation Board grants one deserving college student with a $2,500 grant in the name of the late Don E. Beattie, PGA. This is one of four grants issued annually to local students to assist with their college tuition.
In his quiet, unassuming and selfless way, Don E. Beattie promoted professional events and charity tournaments at The Polo Club at Boca Raton, Addison Reserve and the Country Club at Mirasol. The Palm Beach County Amateur Association, South Florida PGA and Southeast Chapter, Southeast PGA Seniors, American Junior Golf Association, Treasure Coast Senior Tour, Tri-County Humane Society and countless others benefited from Don’s enormous generosity and dedication. A former President of the South Florida PGA, Don is remembered and missed by his family, friends and fellow professionals.
It is in the spirit of Don’s generosity that we present this scholarship in his memory to Meredith Bock. Meredith comes from a golfing family, as her dad is a PGA Member and Director of Section Affairs for PGA of America.
This fall Meredith will be enrolling at the University of Florida where she will study Business. Currently, Bock is employed at Jupiter Lanes where she is a children’s birthday party hostess. In her spare time, Bock participates in several Extra-Curricular Activities. While at Suncoast High School Bock was a Two Year Varsity Captain for the Women’s Golf Team, a District Champion in 2012 and a District Runner-Up in 2014. On top of her already busy schedule, Meredith was the managing editor for her High School yearbook in 2014 and a staff member since 2012. Adding to her extra-curricular activities, Bock is committed to her community by participating in several organizations and programs. Meredith has been a member of the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization since 2012, where she served as President from 2013-2015. Bock’s main objective at Big Brothers, Big Sisters was to mentor underprivileged children and provide a positive role model to them. Meredith was a tutor in all subjects at Jupiter Middle School.
