(Vista, CA – August 10, 2015) – The winner of the Barracuda Championship playoff on Sunday used a Fujikura Speeder Evolution 661 in his TaylorMade R15 driver and jumped from 150th to 76th in the FedEx Cup standings and got a spot in the PGA Championship next week at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.
The second place finisher used a Fujikura Speeder Pro 76 in his TaylorMade driver and the third place finisher also used Fujikura, a Speeder Evolution 757, in his Nike Vapor driver.
Fujikura was also reported as the #1 Driver and Wood Shaft used amongst all PGA Tour players for another consecutive week by the Darrell Survey company.
The Speeder family of shafts have consistently been the most played shaft brand since debuting on tour 20 years ago. The newest Speeder branded shaft models, Speeder Evolution and Speeder Pro, were both used by all top three players at the Barracuda Championship.
Vice President of Fujikura, Alex Dee, explains the performance enhancing characteristics of the new Speeder Pro branded shaft and offers a sneak peak into what Fujikura has in store for 2016.
“We launched Speeder Pro early this year, and we could not be happier with how well it has been received. Offered in a 67 and 77g options exclusively only through our authorized dealer network, the Speeder Pro has a high balance point to help golfers increase head speed and maintain proper club swing weights with today’s popular, heavier golf heads and/or longer club lengths. Speeder Pro also has a straight taper design with a larger handle diameter designed to help golfers reduce grip pressure and promote a faster club release at impact. From standard flexes to the Tour Spec flexes, Speeder Pro offers profiles to achieve a variety of spin and launch angles for golfers at all levels. In September this year, we’ll add 57g versions and also compliment the line with what we’ll call an “XLR8″ line. XLR8 will be our moniker for the ultra-performance. As an upgrade, Fujikura shafts with the XLR8 moniker will feature a higher balance point, lighter weight, and a stiffness profile to promote faster kick speeds.”
“We are also adding Speeder Pro irons and hybrids to our 2016 product offering. It is a very exciting time for our company, as we couldn’t be happier with the performance of the products we have in our line-up.”
