Nycum has extensive background in club ownership and operations

KENNESAW, Ga — (August 24, 2015) – PGA Golf Professional Brad Nycum has joined Governors Towne Club as general manager, bringing more than 25 years of experience in golf course ownership, operations and management to the club.

“The timing worked out just right and we are so pleased that Brad is now part of the Governors Towne Club management team,” said Kenneth G. Horton, president of Kenneth G. Horton & Co., the developer of Governors Towne Club. “Our goal is to bring the club to the next level in Georgia and across the Southeast and with Brad’s experience and leadership we’re already headed in the right direction.”

An accomplished golfer since high school who attended Florida State University on a golf scholarship, Nycum served as a Special Forces Ranger in the U.S. Army. He turned pro in his 20s but soon found himself more interested in owning and managing courses to improve the member/player experience. Over the years, he rehabilitated several courses in Georgia and New Jersey before forming a golf course brokerage and consulting firm, Golf Strategies Inc., that he operated for seven years and was based in the Carolinas.

“The chance to work with Ken Horton and this extraordinary property is exactly where I’m supposed to be at this time in my career,” Nycum said. “The environment and circumstances are right for Governors Towne Club to become what it is intended to be – the best golf experience in this part of Georgia. With the growth and development coming up I-75, we are poised to make that possible.”

Nycum and his wife Chris live in Cartersville.

Governors Towne Club is home to a Curtis Strange-designed golf course, homes priced from $600,000 to $4 million, a spa and fitness center that rivals those found at any major resort, a tennis and aquatic club, and an on-site town retail center. Built in 2002 as new urban community, Governors Towne Club is situated on 735 verdant acres with views of the north Georgia mountains.
