MAMARONECK, N.Y. – A 32-inch tall handcrafted cherry wood trophy pedestal, designed by Morell Studios, was a highlight of the award ceremony at the Metropolitan Golf Association’s 100th Met Open Championship at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck. Ben Polland of Deepdale Golf Club (Manhasset, N.Y.) accepted the winner’s trophy after a three-hole playoff.
The new trophy pedestal, which features handcrafted three dimensional MGA logos on all four sides, was created by Pat Morell, a master craftsman and woodworking artist who has served the golf industry for more than four decades.
