BELLINGHAM, Wash. – SteelFiber graphite iron shafts, designed and manufactured by Aerotech Golf, delivered Top Five finishes on four professional tours all in one weekend. SteelFiber shafts scored second-place at the Scottish Seniors Open on the European Senior Tour; T3 at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open on the Champions Tour; T3 at the RIZAP KBC Augusta on the Japan Tour; and a T4 at The Barclays on the PGA Tour.
Using SteelFiber i95 graphite iron shafts in his irons and a SteelFiber ss85 wood shaft in his fairway wood, the No. 4 ranked player on the European Senior Tour took second-place at the Scottish Seniors Open. SteelFiber i95s were also pivotal on the Japan Tour, giving a T3 finish to the third ranked player on the money list. Meanwhile, SteelFiber i110 graphite iron shafts were claiming a T3 money position on the Champions Tour; and Utah’s young pro landed a T4 at The Barclays, as well as a spot in the second round of the FedExCup Playoffs in his first PGA TOUR season.
“Scoring Top 5’s on four pro tours in one weekend might be a historical first for us,” said Aerotech Golf President Chris Hilleary. “There’s no question that SteelFiber graphite shafts have changed the way players think about iron shafts. It’s not just about a steel anymore. SteelFiber shafts give greater vibration dampening and reduce player fatigue, while at the same time they provide the consistency, accuracy and stability that players have traditionally attributed to steel shafts. SteelFiber innovation is a game-changer.”
SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. The shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, while the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.
During the 2014 season, SteelFiber shafts delivered seven wins – three on the PGA Tour and two each on the Champions and LPGA Tours. The previous tour season was equally successful with SteelFiber chalking up five wins on the PGA TOUR and two more on the Champions Tour. Players with SteelFiber shafts routinely rank high on the PGA Money List, Official World Golf Rankings and the FedEx Cup Season Points. In 2013, for example, SteelFiber players ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the FedEx Cup Season Points and ended overall as No. 3 and No. 5 on the PGA Money List.
