PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (Sept. 21, 2015) – The PGA of America has announced a new cycle of national scholarship award recipients in conjunction with the PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship Program. Marking the 30th anniversary of this program, scholarships were awarded to 128 students totaling $301,000.
Founded in 1986, the PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship Program has awarded more than $6 million to more than 2,900 undergraduate students who are children and grandchildren of PGA members. To be considered for this scholarship, high school graduating seniors or current college students must meet a specific set of criteria, which includes carrying a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4, and participation in extracurricular and/or community activities, among others. Up to 20 percent of funding will take into account the financial need of the student.
The program encourages and promotes the attainment of higher education goals for children and grandchildren of PGA members. Funding for these scholarships is made possible through voluntary contributions from PGA members and other donors.
