Facilities Stabilizing Finances By Playing Better “Defense” In ’11-’14

October 2, 2015

This month’s issue of Outside the Ropes (OtR) discusses Stuart Lindsay and Pellucid’s perspective that courses continue to shore up their expense management “defense” game but there is still room for considerable improvement on the other side of the ball as it relates to rounds, rate and revenue generation on the “offense” side of the ball.

Citing several recent articles and case studies supporting our firsthand observations from our monthly interactions with our reporting clients, Stuart applauds the good defense efforts and then outlines what’s lacking in offense and how we can accelerate efforts to close the gap. He references a recent Fortune interview with former NFL player Ron Jaworski who has successfully managed multiple portfolios of courses and how Jaworski still knows how to play offense at his facilities (in addition to attention to detail on the defense as well).

If you’re not already a subscriber, you can join the conversation one of three ways:

1. Subscribe to OtR, 12 monthly issues for $130/yr with a money-back guarantee if you’re not satisfied at any time during your subscription; click here. Annual subscribers also get access to the historical archive of past issues (50+) via the members-only section of the Pellucid website.

2. Purchase single issues (including this one) for $14.95 per issue; click here to view available issues by title and select those of interest to purchase and download.

3. We also offer a single-issue trial option (this would be a good one). Click here to register and we’ll send you the full article for your reading pleasure. Experience has shown that the majority of those who listen in on an OtR conversation ultimately subscribe (sometimes it takes a little while but we eventually wear them down). Any single-issue purchasers who upgrade to an annual subscription within 30 days, we’ll credit back the initial purchase.

Given that you can participate in the conversation for as little as a $15 initial investment, we feel like we’ve lowered the risk threshold to about nothing so now it’s all about interest in being informed and advancing your professional education (or not). To remove one more barrier, if you subscribe and at any point during the subscription you’re not getting value from it, just let us know and we’ll stop your subscription and provide a refund for the balance of the issues in your annual term. We don’t know how we can make it easier, more affordable or more risk-free than that!
