Palm Springs, CA – Ninety-nine U.S footgolfers from 22 states, plus players from Mexico and Argentina are making their way, or already in Chicago for the inaugural American FootGolf League (AFGL) U.S. National FootGolf Championship. Sydney Marovitz Golf Course, along the beautiful Chicago lakefront, hosts this event on Saturday, Oct. 3.
“The registration response has been overwhelming,” says AFGL president Laura Balestrini. “Our country’s best are coming to compete for the honor of being the first U.S. national champion, and will be recognized by the Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG). Also, the foreign contingent includes the world’s best footgolfer, Christian Otero of Argentina. We are very gratified by the support and enthusiasm expressed by all of the competitors.”
“I am coming to check out the AFGL competition,” reports Christian Otero of Argentina. “I am really impressed by the progress U.S. players have made in the world of FootGolf, and I want to see what to expect at the FootGolf World Cup in January 2016. You can only beat the best if you play the best, and I am looking forward to this opportunity.”
The inaugural national championship will also unveil the new model AFGL FootGolf cup 2016. It is a patent-pending, 21″ diameter cup with a built-in ferrule and is made exclusively for FootGolf. The AFGL FootGolf Cup 2016 closely resembles Standard Golf’s top selling ST 2000 Smart-FitTM golf cup. This cup is the new, official FootGolf cup of the American FootGolf League.
