Youth On Course Achieves Membership Milestone

October 8, 2015

(PEBBLE BEACH, CA) – Youth on Course — the non-profit organization providing rounds of golf for $5 or less, scholarships and caddie programs for children and teens – attained its 10,000th member in the Northern California market.

Born in the Northern California Golf Association Foundation, YOC is expanding to other states and regions and now totals nearly 15,000 youth members combined. Growth in Southern California, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Utah and Nevada is expanding YOC to new places, with other areas soon to be announced.

Key Youth on Course initiatives that have contributed to the program’s rapid success include:

• Rounds of $5 or less for all members

• Paid internship and caddie positions – nearly 200 jobs to date

• College scholarships – including $282,000 last year alone

“Expanding nationally doesn’t diminish our program growth in Northern California, our YOC flagship base that serves as a strong and crucial foundation,” says Youth on Course Executive Director Adam Heieck. “Northern California gives us a great field test for different initiatives and is an important case study as we grow the program on a national scale.”

With over 380,000 YOC member rounds played, and the organization on track to secure its 400th partner course this fall, industry leaders are endorsing the program as an important tool for growing participation in golf.
