Wins European Tour’s Portugal Masters
CARLSBAD, Calif. (October 19, 2015) – A 28-year-old Englishman using Nippon Shaft’s steel shafts in his irons won the Portugal Masters by an incredible nine shots over his nearest competitor, shooting 23-under par at the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course on Portugal’s southern coast.
It was the third victory of the European Tour season for the young veteran Tour pro, who also won the Joburg Open in January and the South African Open last November. The Nuneaton native shot 64-64-67-66-216 and picked up a winner’s check worth ?333,330 ($377,000).
In all three wins, he used the N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 120 S flex shafts in his irons.
His latest victory boosted him to No. 15 in the Tour’s Race to Dubai rankings. That four-event playoff series commences on Oct. 29 in Turkey and concludes Nov. 22 in Dubai.
“Nippon Shaft would like to congratulate the champion not only on his Portugal Masters victory but also on his consistent play throughout the year,” said Hiro Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “Winning three times in the last 11 months against high-level competition on the European Tour is something he should be very proud, as are we.”
