AUGUSTA, Ga. (October 20, 2015) – The Municipal Golf Association of San Antonio, which manages seven facilities known as the Alamo City Golf Trail, recently awarded its new fleet contract to E-Z-GO®.
The association outfitted six of the Golf Trail’s courses with E-Z-GO TXT® 48-volt electric golf cars. The course also purchased several RXV® electric cars to serve a seventh course.
“The TXT and RXV golf cars will offer greater convenience and comfort for golfers at San Antonio’s celebrated courses, while reducing the city’s operating costs,” said Michael R. Parkhurst, vice president, golf for E-Z-GO. “Golf legends – like Sam Snead and Ben Hogan – have teed off on these courses, so we are honored to be the Trail’s fleet vehicle of choice.”
The TXT 48-volt DC electric drivetrain is one of the most energy-efficient direct-current (DC) powered golf cars available today. The TXT comes equipped with E-Z-GO’s TruCourse Technology system, which allows course owners to customize their fleet’s performance to match the layout and terrain of the facility for greater efficiency and an improved ride. The TXT also offers modern conveniences such as an oversized bagwell, optional USB port and expanded storage.
The RXV electric golf car is the only model in the industry equipped with both AC Drive technology and a patented IntelliBrake™ system that delivers unmatched efficiency. It’s a unique combination that was pioneered with the RXV’s introduction to the industry almost a decade ago.
Additionally, the RXV provides full-time regenerative braking that puts energy back into the batteries while the vehicle is in use, for lasting operational savings.
San Antonio is known to have one of the best municipal golf systems in the United States, and its courses host several Texas Open and amateur events each year. Notable among its seven courses is the A.J. Tillinghast-designed Brackenridge Park Golf Course, which was fully restored in 2008. Other courses on the Alamo City Golf Trail include Cedar Creek, designed by Finger Dye Spann, the George Hoffman-designed Olmos Basin, Willow Springs, Mission Del Lago and San Pedro.
