SoCal Golfer Launches A Simple Solution To Grow And Sustain The Game – Accessibility And Affordability

November 2, 2015

Carlsbad, CA (11/02/2015) – Today SOCAL Golfer, an official SCGA Member Club, is pleased to announce the launch of its online community, www.socalgolfer.org. The website aims to improve the sustainability of the golf industry by offering an online golf club with solutions to encourage the everyday golfer in the region to play more golf.

As part of its objective, SOCAL Golfer has created an online golf club to redefine the traditional exclusive and expensive country clubs. They achieve this by simply providing a forum that any golfer can access and by making annual membership costs less than a typical round of golf – $60 per year. Members will enjoy benefits including tee time and equipment discounts, a USGA Handicap Index, social and competitive play, resources, giveaways, online networking, and a safe and regional forum to buy, sell, and exchange used golf equipment.

“Growing the game has been a very prevalent discussion in the media and we feel that sustainability is just as important,” says SOCAL Golfer Co-Founder Justin Reichel. “We shouldn’t forget those of us currently playing who experience barriers to participation by means of accessibility and affordability. The traditional country club has set a tone that golf is only for the rich. We aim to alter the way our Southern California golf community perceives golf and how they interact with one another in an effort to get more people out on the course, together, with the best equipment in hand and at the best prices.”

In May of 2015 the leaders of five major golf organizations in the United States announced a collaborative effort to focus their attention and support to grow, protect, and perpetuate the health of the golf industry both from a player level but also an economic level. Their initiatives are focused on introduction and development of youth golfers, player development for adult golfers, accessibility and sustainability. The announcement came with no clear definition or plan for sustainability but did include established plans for five grow-the-game programs.

“We are excited for our online golf community and believe it will aid in the sustainability of the game of golf, specifically in our region,” continues Reichel. “Our community not only has benefits to get current resident golfers out on the course more but is an easy access point for new golfers to join. You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to join a golf club.”

###

Out with the old and in with the new. SOCAL Golfer is revolutionizing the way we approach golf by offering an online community for everything golf Southern California has to offer – featuring news, local events, a safe exchange for used equipment, deals, contests, resources, and a place to meet other like-minded golfers. Founded in 2015, we set out to alter the way our community interacts with one another in an effort to get more people out on the course, together, with the best equipment in hand and at the best prices. It is not a secret that we live where the sun is always shining and golf is played year-round and for that, we are thankful for being in the Golden State of Golf.
