KATY, TX – Heritage Golf Group is proud to announce that Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club, a Heritage Golf Group property, raised over $145,000 to support our troops at their Birdies for the Brave® tournament last Saturday, November 7, 2015. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit PGA TOUR Charities, Inc.’s Birdies for the Brave, a national military outreach initiative dedicated to raising funds and awareness for military homefront charities that provide critical services to meet the specialized needs of military members, wounded veterans and their families. Additionally, the Club presented a new mortgage-free home to a military veteran at the event.
The Birdies for the Brave event began with a patriotic Opening Ceremony featuring a presentation by the Color Guard followed by the presentation of a new mortgage-free home to deserving military hero Scott Ewing and his family (selected in partnership with the Military Warriors Support Foundation; a non-profit organization providing support for America’s wounded veterans as they transition into civilian life). A total of 32 teams participated in the golf tournament. Following the tournament, the post-round reception featured dinner for all participants and guests, as well as a silent auction, raffle and an awards ceremony.
“This year was better than ever because we were able to see the direct results of our efforts when we presented a soldier and his family a mortgage-free home at the opening ceremonies. It was something special to witness firsthand what our efforts have done! One of six Heritage Golf Group properties hosting an event benefitting Birdies for the Brave in 2015, Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club has raised more than $145,000 for the Birdies for the Brave program this year and nearly a million dollars since the program’s inception. Since 2008, Heritage Golf Group has worked with club members, sponsors and local community leaders to raise more than $2.6 million for military homefront charities.
