Lance Fong to oversee club’s Witch Hollow and Ghost Creek courses
(FORT WORTH, Texas) – Escalante Golf, boutique owner-operator of high-end clubs and courses, has named Lance Fong the new general manager at 36-hole Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club (North Plains, Ore.).
Fong will oversee Pumpkin Ridge’s members-only course, Witch Hollow, as well as its daily-fee layout, Ghost Creek. He joins Pumpkin Ridge from Trophy Lake Golf & Casting Club in Port Orchard, Wash. Fong’s background includes general manager posts with leading multi-course operators including ClubCorp, Oki Golf and American Golf Management.
“We’re excited to welcome Lance to the Pumpkin Ridge team and Escalante family,” says David McDonald, President of Escalante Golf. “His extensive experience with both public and private facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest is ideal for carrying out our vision for Pumpkin Ridge.”
Fong will spearhead Escalante’s pledge to continue delivering high levels of personalized service to Witch Hollow members and cultivating an unmatched guest-driven experience at Ghost Creek.
Opened in 1992 just outside of Portland, Pumpkin Ridge has established itself as one of the Pacific Northwest’s most-heralded clubs and golf destinations.
Members-only Witch Hollow has hosted many prestigious championships. They include the 1996 U.S. Amateur won by Tiger Woods in a dramatic comeback over Steve Scott, as well as the 1997 and 2003 Women’s U.S. Opens. The 7,017-yard par 72 has been ranked in Golf Digest’s “America’s 100 Greatest Courses,” GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Courses in the U.S.” and Golfweek’s “Best Modern Courses.”
Ghost Creek, a par 71, 6,871 yard daily-fee facility, meanders through wetlands punctuated by lush stands of trees. Undulating fairways, immaculate greens and strategic bunkering are other hallmarks. It is recognized as one of the top 10 courses in Oregon and ranked 56th in GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Courses You Can Play.”
Two 20,000 square-foot clubhouses, a 17-acre practice area, learning center, full-service restaurants and extensive banquet space are other Pumpkin Ridge calling cards. Less than thirty minutes from downtown Portland, a short distance to Portland International Airport and Vancouver, Wash., and just over three hours from the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue Metropolitan Area, Pumpkin Ridge is conveniently accessible to Pacific Northwest golfers.
