St. Augustine, FL – November 16, 2015 – The National Alliance for Accessible Golf, a golf industry alliance dedicated to ensuring that the game of golf is inclusive of individuals with disabilities, joins the Global “Giving Tuesday” Movement.
“Giving Tuesday” is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on December 1, “Giving Tuesday” is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
The National Alliance for Accessible Golf, a 501(c) (3) non-profit formed in 2001, joined “Giving Tuesday” to expand the education and promotion of golf as an inclusive sport and to connect with individuals who support that mission. “We have been incredibly inspired by the generosity in time, efforts, ideas and financial support that have brought the Alliance into a nationwide effort to ensure that golf is inclusive,” stated Mike Tinkey, President of the Alliance.
Through education, promotion, grassroots program grants and advocacy, the National Alliance for Accessible Golf works to increase participation in the game of people with disabilities. “Through golf, individuals with disabilities become actively engaged in the social fabric of their community, and derive health benefits that improve the quality of life”, stated Steve Jubb, Alliance Executive Director.
Steve Jubb also adds, “Giving Tuesday is a great way for your family, community or company to help support our mission and at the same time, help us to improve lives through golf.”
