Market Analysis Should Be Your Foundation For 2016 Strategy And Planning

November 19, 2015

As Thanksgiving approaches and the season closes for those of us north of the Mason-Dixon line, many will throttle down and take a well-deserved break. For the more ambitious and disciplined facility owner/operators, they’ll be thinking about strategy and what facts they need to start thinking about an even more successful 2016 and, based on our experience and clients, that generally means revisiting their market analysis on the dimensions of:

• Population changes (size, income/age shifts, diversity changes)

• Golfer base (how many, public/private estimate)

• Rounds Potential Indices (local rounds demand factoring in age/income/ethnicity skews in local population)

• Supply/demand balance (better or worse, amount of imbalance vs. ’90 benchmark, by Pellucid’s 5 consumer-based facility types)

• Supply level, facility-reported demand and facility velocity (Rds per 18-hole equivalent), annual values at All Facilities and Pellucid 5 facility types breakout

• Basic facility facts list for all facilities in the analysis area

Pellucid, the industry leader in reliable syndicated golf market analysis (which incorporates a number of Key Performance Indicators we invented), offers 3 variations of market analysis to fit a wide range of detail and budget needs:

• Standard version – 15-page commentary report in MS Word including summary data tables for the above dimensions for up to 3 draw areas (client-designated in either drivetime minutes (i.e. 15, 25, 30 minutes) or mile radii (i.e. 10, 20, 30 miles). Also includes the detailed data tables in MS Excel workbook format.

• Weather-enhanced version – Standard version deliverables with an additional section in the commentary report highlighting Golf Playable Hours (GPH), Capacity Rounds and % Utilization by comparing Pellucid’s proprietary weather data specific to the analysis facility against the facility-reported summary rounds data. This also includes an additional detailed data tab in the MS Excel workbook with figures on current, past 2 years and 10-year averages for GPH.

• Data-only version – Just the MS Excel workbook detailed data tables for those who “don’t need no stinkin’ commentary.”

All we need to get started is an order, an analysis centerpoint (either an existing facility or an address) and input on the 3 draw areas and within 3 business days or less you’ll have your analysis. For those ordering the Standard or Weather-enhanced versions, we even offer a 30 minute call to discuss the findings and answer questions. To get started, Click Here

For the more risk averse among you, we’ll send you a sample of a report to review before you make your decision, justRegister Here and check off GLMA in the products pick list. You don’t necessarily need an annual market analysis but most of our forward-thinking clients have theirs updated every other year. If you can’t remember the last time you did a market analysis, then it’s probably time.
