LPGA Stars & Omega Ambassadors Stacy Lewis And Michelle Wie Visit New Omega Boutique In Naples

November 19, 2015

[Nov. 18, 2015] – LPGA stars and OMEGA brand ambassadors Stacy Lewis and Michelle Wie made a special guest appearance together Tuesday night at the newly opened OMEGA Boutique in Naples, Fla. OMEGA, the prestigious Swiss watchmaker, comes to Naples as the brand’s newest boutique recently opened at Waterside Shops. Lewis and Wie have been OMEGA brand ambassadors since 2013 and 2006, respectively.
Lewis and Wie are in Naples this week for the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship to be played Nov. 19-22 at the Tiburón Golf Club. The tournament will be televised on Golf Channel (Nov. 19-21) and on ABC (Nov. 22).
Lewis has 11 career LPGA victories to her name, is third on the 2015 LPGA Official Money List and ranked third in the world rankings. Wie, who has been on the LPGA since 2009, is ranked 25th in the world and has four LPGA career victories. Thus far in 2015, Lewis has posted 14 top 10s, including six second-place finishes.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed being an ambassador for OMEGA watches since joining their team over two years ago,” said Lewis. “Not only do they make a large range of the world’s most beautiful watches, I love that they are all about precision and accuracy. I had a great time visiting the OMEGA boutique in Tokyo two weeks ago and now, I am honored to be involved in the opening of this boutique in Naples.”
Said Wie, “Tonight is a special night with the new boutique opening here in Naples. I’m happy to be part of this event. Being an OMEGA ambassador has been an incredible experience, and I truly respect the brand for its efforts in growing the game of golf. I’m so excited to see golf return to the Olympics next year in Rio. I know OMEGA plays such a special role at each Olympics Games.”
The event in Naples celebrated the LPGA players’ partnerships with OMEGA and the brand’s support for the sport of golf. The events also highlighted OMEGA’s role in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, where golf returns to the Games for the first time since 1904, and its upcoming presence at the 2016 Ryder Cup. OMEGA is the Official Timekeeper of the Olympics, as well as the PGA of America.
The first OMEGA Boutique opened in Zurich in 2000 as part of the brand’s ambitious goal to extend the corporate boutique network to include 50 retail shops devoted exclusively to OMEGA products within ten years. By 2008, OMEGA had already met that target.
The Naples store, one of five OMEGA Boutiques to open in the United States in 2015, is a central component of the expansion of the OMEGA Boutique network, which today numbers 34 in the U.S.
“OMEGA is pleased to have Stacy Lewis and Michelle Wie on-hand to help open our Naples Boutique,” said OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart. “Both professional golfers are tremendous ambassadors for OMEGA and such talented golfers on the course as well. We enjoy watching them perform at the highest level and will continue to partner with them as both ladies embody what OMEGA represents.”
About Stacy Lewis
LPGA star Stacy Lewis is one of golf’s most inspirational players. Her success comes from pure devotion and is underscored by her overcoming a potentially debilitating medical condition at a young age. At just 11 years old, Stacy was diagnosed with scoliosis, and at 18 she underwent major corrective surgery. After long months of rehab, Stacy went on to become the first athlete to win any Major sports championship with a fused spine.
In 2011, Stacy won her first Major, followed by four more tournament triumphs in 2012. Following those wins, she received the LPGA’s prestigious Player of the Year award (2012), becoming the first American to do so in 18 years.
2014 was a remarkable year for Stacy Lewis. She claimed three victories on the LPGA and also added to her impressive list of honors, the Player of the Year and the Vare Trophy. She was also ranked number one in the Women’s World Golf Ranking during 21 weeks in the same year.
About Michelle Wie
Michelle Wie has spent more than half of her life in the public eye. She was the youngest player ever to qualify for the USGA Amateur Championship at the age of ten. In 2003, at the age of 13, she was the youngest player to qualify for an LPGA tour event. The same year, she became the youngest winner of the US Women’s Amateur Public Links.
In November of 2009 Michelle earned her first LPGA tour victory and also led her American countrywomen to victory in the Solheim Cup as well. The following year she notched her second tour victory and has continued to play excellent golf.
For several years, Michelle led a busy “double life”, dividing her time between her golfing career and her academic life at Stanford University. She earned her degree in communications in 2012. In 2014, Michelle won her first Major at the U.S. Women’s Open Championship.
