(PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.) – Holiday gifting your favorite golfer with a round for four at iconic Pebble Beach or The Olympic Club qualifies as a special present; thanks to Youth on Course – the game-growing, non-profit organization enabling access to golf for $5 or less – it’s a gift that continues giving through YOC’s inaugural online auction Wed., Nov. 25, raising funds for its Caddie Academy, internship and scholarship programs.
Born through the Northern California Golf Association, YOC operates in seven western states and is steadfastly expanding as state and regional golf associations increasingly embrace its industry growth initiatives. The organization subsidizes green fees at hundreds of courses to alleviate the cost barrier for its nearly 15,000 members.
Auction-raised funds help feed the cause; following are some representative bid items.
• Warriors Package: Limited edition 2015 commemorative NBA Champions basketball signed by Youth on Course ambassador and 2015 MVP Steph Curry; two tickets with sideline club access to a March 7 Warriors home game against the Orlando Magic
• Pebble Beach Golf Package: Golf for four at Pebble Beach Golf Links, golf for three at Monterey Peninsula Country Club Shore Course and golf for four at Poppy Hills Golf Course
• Kohanaiki Club Package – Three nights’ accommodations for two couples in a two-bedroom Hale, daily golf for four, daily breakfast for four, and dinner for four at the Kohanaiki Club in Kona, Hawaii
Several more items are available and range from fine wines to luxury travel packages. The auction starts at 12:00 a.m. PST and is accessible through youthoncourse.org/auction. Bidding closes at 11:59 p.m. PST on December 1.
As an added benefit for those who wish to make holiday season donations online, Youth on Course will be waiving all transaction fees on #GivingTuesday – the unofficial holiday that falls on December 1, 2015 and celebrates charitable contributions.
