Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – There may have been snow on the ground when they started, yet 10 Chapters of the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) are celebrating long-term anniversaries in December. From a 1991 summer golf clinic in West Palm Beach, the first EWGA Chapter was formed in Palm Beach County that December. Other women and the media took notice and soon more Chapters started throughout Florida. And then it snowballed throughout the country.
In December 1995, the Greater Philadelphia, PA Chapter was launched and now is celebrating its 20th anniversary. December 1997 marked the start of four new Chapters in Columbus, OH, Lehigh Valley, PA, Piedmont Triad, NC and Houston, TX. The following December the Cincinnati, OH Chapter was formed and a year later one started in St Louis, MO. Marking 10-year anniversaries this month are the Daytona Beach, FL and Rhode Island EWGA Chapters.
Celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2016, the EWGA is the largest women-focused national amateur golf association in the United States with chapters located in more than 100 cities as well as international chapters in Bermuda, Canada and Italy.
“All EWGA Chapters are led by volunteers. I think we have so many anniversaries in December because that is when they started planning for the coming golf season,” says Pam Swensen, EWGA’s CEO. ” Our volunteer leaders are the fabric that makes our organization so vibrant. It is because of their passion and commitment that we have continue to flourish. We truly are locally connected and nationally respected.”
As THE Golf Community for Women, the EWGA has connected more than 100,000 women who share a passion for cultivating relationships and enjoying the game. Offering a wide range of affordable organized golf activities and educational programs, this award-winning association has been bringing women together through golf since 1991.
