ORLANDO, FLORIDA, Dec. 10, 2015 – The PNC Father/Son Challenge today launched a commemorative tournament seal designed to reflect the unique Father and child bond that is the heritage of the event. The seal, which will evolve each year, uses elements of a golf course to create the silhouettes of a parent and child and complements the existing tournament logo.
The 18th edition of the PNC Father/Son Challenge will be played December 10-13, 2015, at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes in Florida. Jack Nicklaus and his son, Gary, headline a field full of golf’s legends who have amassed 350 PGA TOUR victories and 64 major championships.
“At its core, the PNC Father/Son Challenge is a celebration of the bond between parent and child,” said Alastair Johnston, vice chairman of IMG, which co-founded and produces the tournament with NBC Sports. “The debut of our tournament seal showcases that bond and reminds us how the game of golf can unite our families.”
The tournament seal is framed by a silver ring symbolizing the eternal bond of family. Contained within, a father and son share moment together and are created using traditional golf course elements including water hazards, fairways and sand traps. The tournament seal design will evolve for each playing of the PNC Father/Son Challenge.
Tournament co-owner IMG commissioned the seal from Recess Creative in Cleveland, Ohio. The commemorative seal is the first of its kind in the world of professional golf tournaments. Players and fans now have items that commemorate their moments from each special tournament year.
As a whole, the tournament seal is an eye-catching reminder that the love of the game is at the heart of these moments and togetherness is the greatest victory of all.
