Two-time U.S. Solheim Cup team member to compete in ECCO Biom shoes
(LONDONDERRY, NH) – Danish company ECCO – a leading manufacturer of innovative footwear – announces the signing of LPGA Tour star Gerina Piller, who will compete in the innovative BIOM Hybrid 2 and BIOM G2 models and showcase the company logo on her shirt collar.
Currently No. 28 on the Rolex Ranking, Piller turned professional in 2007 and joined the LPGA Tour in 2010. She has since recorded 21 top-10 finishes, including five in 2015. A member of the U.S. Solheim Cup team in 2013 and 2015, the 30-year-old is known as one of the longest hitters in women’s golf.
“ECCO shoes have an amazing combination of comfort and style that perfectly suits my game,” says Piller. “The BIOM models I’ve chosen offer incredible comfort and stability, and feel like they were made for my feet.”
Prior to turning professional, Piller excelled in the collegiate ranks. While attending the University of Texas, El Paso, she won four tournaments as a senior and was named the 2007 Conference USA Individual champion and Player of the Year. Piller, who is married to PGA Tour player Martin Piller, also gained fame as a contestant on Golf Channel’s Big Break program.
“With her game and style, Gerina is a perfect fit for the ECCO brand,” says Jesper Thuen, Global Marketing Manager – ECCO Golf Lab. “Building from the momentum she gained during the 2015 season, she certainly has the potential for multiple LPGA Tour wins in 2016.”
Like all ECCO golf shoes, the BIOM models Piller will wear are crafted at company-owned factories using the Direct-injection Process. This bonds the upper and outsole unit, creating a one-piece shoe without the use of glue or stitching. Benefits include outstanding flexibility, permanent memory and a firm, water-tight seal.
In addition to Piller, the ECCO Golf collection is worn in competition by Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Graeme McDowell, Thomas Bjørn, Thongchai Jaidee, Marcel Siem, Will Wilcox, Caroline Masson, Jennifer Johnson, Sadena Parks, Kendall Dye, Line Vedel Hansen, Pernilla Lindberg, Therese Koelbaek, Sophie Giquel-Bettan, Liz Young, Sally Watson and Linda Wessberg, among others.
