Ryan Trengrove, Founder of MyGolfBenchmark.com and Owner of Golf Swing Prescription, an Orange County, CA-based indoor teaching facility that conducts more than 5,000 lessons a year, is familiar with the struggles of golf instructors. Trengrove commented, “Before creating and implementing this system in my own facility, I was plagued with keeping track of student accounts, progress and accounting via a combination of disparate systems and note taking. I found that housekeeping cut significantly into my teaching time and students wanted a better understanding of their progress.”
Mr. Trengrove continued, “Following the implementation of MyGolfBenchmark.com, I’ve found that my student are happier with their teaching experience because I can provide better expectations connected to the time they’ve invested, as well as, a better understanding of the weakest areas and time needed to improve their game. They can actually visualize where they’re improving with the 3D Modeling, where they still need to work, and how we’re systematically Improving their game. It also enables the instructor to be more profitable by selling more lessons because fewer student quick in the midst of their training and they also sign up for bigger training plans that meet needs outlined by the system recommendation, over a longer time frame and increasing personal time management and efficiency.”
How does MyGolfBenchmark Work?
– Following the creation of a student account, interviewing the student about golf history and goals, the instructor personalizes the 3D avatar, which starts in the ideal position for all eight phases of the golf swing. They can simply move the avatar to look like the student, and this can be done by a complete novice.
– As you adjust the avatar, the system automatically grades how far out of position the student is, then recommends a training regimen based on how far away the student is from the desired goal (this ensures that the student has a training plan realistically based on the person).
– The system assumes that it takes 21 days to develop a new motor skill, based on physiological research. This means that students with major areas of improvement will need at least three weeks to improve and those with minor tweaks can be recommended as few as 1 week or two sessions.
– This system creates a consistent way to measure each and every student and provides full transparency to the students, as they can view their personally made 3D avatar showing where they are in relation to their goals during the improvement process.
– Your student’s receive notifications reminding them about their appointment and you receive notifications about follow ups and students that are slipping away.
– Once students begin training, the student comes back in from their last lesson. The teacher interviews them on how things went and how often they practiced and how they practiced. However they practiced, it is important that the instructor explains how they practice affects how much improvement they will see each week.
– Then the instructor films the student. Brings up the student next to the avatar. In each phase, they moves the avatar to look like student. Then the instructor can show the student what has improved from last time and what percentage.
– This helps the student see their progress and keeps them motivated to work toward their goals. The instructor now has an easier way now of showing the student their improvement in their form even though they may not have seen any improvement in their scores.
– Then if a student is at the end of a series and they have only improved at their setup and backswing, the instructor can explain more easily to the student that they have made this amount of progress and this work on the downswing is still needed before the student should expect to see results in scoring.
Now for the first time in the history of teaching golf an instructor and student are on the same page working together with a well laid out plan to get the student to their goals. My GolfBenchmark will be exhibiting at booth 1284. Stop by for a demo!
