(MOSELEY, VA) – Magnolia Green Golf Club has named Leighann Albaugh, ranked among Golf Digest’s “Best Teachers in Your State,” Director of Instruction for its burgeoning player development program.

Bringing high energy, an indelible personality and more than 16 years’ experience, Albaugh will create original, multi-level curriculums for men, women, juniors and seniors to fuel interest in the game. Focused on transforming non-golfers into golfers, her complete-game approach teaches basic swing mechanics, course management, purposeful practice, mental training, fitness and nutrition.

The “U.S. Kids Top 50 Teacher” will also grow Magnolia Green Golf Club’s new PGA Junior League, further cementing it as the facility of choice for young golfers to improve skills and enjoy healthy competition.

“I use my passion and knowledge to create atmospheres that motivate and support golfers of all ages and abilities,” says Albaugh. “By developing programs that make the game fun and approachable, our team will change golf’s perception, transform lives and possibly find the next Jordan Spieth or Lydia Ko.”

Albaugh’s widely popular teaching style is highly influenced by her time studying under renowned coaches Dana Rader and Dr. Jim Suttie, ranked 19th on Golf Digest’s “Top 50 Teachers in America” and one of the first to introduce high-speed video to golf instruction.

Previously at the helm of several successful Division I golf programs, Albaugh led the University of Richmond to the most top-5 finishes in school history and Randolph-Macon College to consecutive conference championships. In her career she’s recruited and coached five Academic All-Americans, seven All-Tournament teams, one “Rookie of the Year” and “Player of the Year.”

“Adding Leighann’s experience and leadership puts us on a whole new level,” says Bobby Kidder, General Manager of Magnolia Green Golf Club. “Her ability to develop endearing relationships with all her students aligns with our family-first culture and deepens our roots within the community.”

Prior to her new position, Albaugh served as Director of Instruction at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, VA. She conducted more than 300 hours of lessons, developed innovative lesson plans and boosted program enrollment by 15% annually.

About Magnolia Green Golf Club

Less than 25 miles southwest of the state capital, Magnolia Green Golf Club is the centerpiece of Magnolia Green, the region’s best-selling community. Formerly the 9-hole Westham Golf Club, it was recently expanded into a par-72, 7,150-yard course under the watchful eye of iStar. One of the U.S.’s leading developers of master-planned communities, iStar invested more than $3 million to build the new nine, making Magnolia Green only the second 18-hole course to open in Virginia since 2010. Among its memorable holes are the reverse Redan-style par-3 No. 3 enticing players to aim left and use the slope to guide tee shots onto the green. The long par-4 No. 18 provides a dramatic finish as golfers face a nerve-wrecking, downhill approach to an undulated green.
