Golf 8.5 program simplifies the golf swing for instructors and players
LENOX, Mass. – Golf 8.5TM, the highly successful approach to teaching and learning golf quickly, developed by LPGA Hall of Famer Kay McMahon, is the proud winner of the International Network of Golf Player Development Award. The award was presented during the 23rd ING Industry Honors held at the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show January 28-30, in Orlando, Fla.
The International Network of Golf (ING), a media-based networking organization established in 1990, created the Industry Honors to annually recognize outstanding achievements in the golf industry. This was the 23rd year for the event. The ING Player Development award is awarded to, “the person or persons who have made an extraordinary contribution to the continued growth of golf through the unselfish devotion of time an energies introducing more people to the game.”
McMahon has been teaching for more than 30 years, growing the game through her extraordinarily simple approach of teaching, which has been trademarked as Golf 8.5. The Golf 8.5 method is designed to make the golf swing simple – 4 things to do before the swing and 4.5 things to do in-swing. McMahon has developed and successfully taught Golf 8.5 since 2002 at her 36,000 square-foot, year-round golf studio (eduKaytion Golf), headquartered at Cranwell Spa & Golf Resort in Lenox, Mass.
McMahon has received numerous accolades and honors over her distinguished career. She is a member of the LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Hall of Fame, a PGA of America Quarter Century Class A Member, Golf Digest 50 Best Women Teachers in America, and Past National LPGA T&CP President. A two-time Horton Smith Award winner and LPGA Teacher of the Year (1995), McMahon was also named the Northeast N.Y. PGA Section Teacher of the Year (2006).
Considered a “teacher of teachers” amongst her peers, McMahon is an outstanding, entertaining and enthusiastic speaker. She is also holding a one-day workshop at Eastern Michigan University March 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Shirley Spork Women’s Golf Endowment.
