Brand leads competition by taking home most first-place honors
ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2016) – Golfweek received a total of seven awards from the 2016 Golf Writers Association of America writing contest and led the competition with the most first-place awards of any media outlet. This year’s honors further solidify Golfweek’s position as the most authentic and authoritative voice in golf and serve as a testament to the brand’s enduring commitment to editorial excellence.
“For more than four decades, Golfweek has been devoted to providing the most comprehensive coverage of the game,” said Golfweek Group Publisher Alex Miceli. “Our on-site reporting, expert analysis and global presence continue to make Golfweek the game’s most trusted media brand, and we’re absolutely thrilled the GWAA has recognized that with these honors.”
Selected from a highly competitive pool of 416 entries, Golfweek’s awards honor five staff writers and are as follows:
First Place
Daily Features – “Sam and the King,” Jeff Babineau
Daily News – “USA’s historic Solheim comeback,” Beth Ann Nichols
Non-Daily Columns – “Why is this course holding an Open?” Martin Kaufmann
Second Place
Non-Daily News – “Unbroken,” Adam Schupak
Third Place
Non-Daily Features – “A look at conceded putts,” Jim McCabe
