Two players finished in the Top 5 on the LPGA Tour this week using different color Volvik golf balls, including a runner-up finish. Volvik staff player Pornanong Phatlum finished 2nd with her signature Hot Pink Volvik golf ball, while fellow Volvik staffer Chella Choi finished T4 with her Orange S3 golf ball at the HSBC Women’s Champions event in Singapore Sunday.
Thailand’s Phatlum shot 70-67-68-68 in the four round event, leading her to the fourth runner-up finish of her career. All four of her runner-up finishes have been earned since she switched to a Volvik golf ball in 2012. The runner-up finish vaults Phatlum to 5th in the official LPGA Tour money list.
It was the 9th runner-up finish for a LPGA professional playing a Volvik golf ball in the last three years. Add in the three LPGA Tour victories that Volvik golf balls have experienced over the past three seasons and Volvik golf balls have earned 12 first and second place finishes; five with Orange, four with Pink and three with Yellow golf balls.
Choi now has earned back-to-back Top 5 finishes on the LPGA Tour. She has earned 19 Top 5 finishes since switching to an Orange Volvik golf ball. She now ranks 11th on the current LPGA Tour money list.
