(RESTON, VA) – Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – one of the largest owner-operators of golf courses, country clubs and resorts – has been selected by the Lycoming County Commissioners to manage the 45-hole White Deer Golf Complex in Montgomery, PA.
The company will direct all components of the daily-fee operation that is less than 10 miles south of Williamsport, home of the Little League World Series. Course and property maintenance, sales, marketing and public relations, staffing and training, merchandising, restaurant and banquet activities, special events, golf instruction and financial management are among BCG’s responsibilities.
Utilizing its proprietary “ACE the Guest Experience” and modern marketing programs, BCG will enhance White Deer’s culture as a family-first community asset to draw beginners to the game and increase golfers’ frequency of play.
“Billy Casper Golf was the choice to take White Deer Golf Complex to the next level,” says Matt McDermott, Director of Administration for Lycoming County. “The company has a stellar track record improving the quality of golf and financial performance of courses across America.”
“We’re eager to help Lycoming County realize White Deer’s potential,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG. “New programs and special events fueled by golf’s most powerful operating platform will engage new generations of golfers and cement the course as a ‘must play’ in Central Pennsylvania.”
Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains foothills, White Deer is known for its natural beauty and breathtaking panoramic views along its three distinctive courses:
• The par-72, 6,400-yard Vintage Course opened in 1965 and was designed by Kenneth J. Polakowski. Affectionately called the “Old Course” by locals, small greens and nearly 70 bunkers emphasize club selection and precise approach shots.
• The par-72, 6,587-yard Challenge Course was designed by Lindsay Ervin in 1990 and is one of the most entertaining layouts in Central Pennsylvania. Accuracy is key to navigating 11 water hazards and mix of wide-open and tree-lined fairways.
• The par-28, 1,283-yard Executive Course is popular among beginner golfers and those looking for a quick nine-hole round. Ideal for learning and improving skills, no tee times are necessary to play a fun mix of short- and medium-length par-3s and a drivable par 4.
Complementing golfers’ experiences is a practice facility with an expansive driving range, short-game area, bunker and large putting green, as well as private and group lessons.
A fully-stocked pro shop has a wide selection of brand-name equipment and apparel while Mulligan’s Restaurant & Lounge serves pre- and post-round dining in a relaxed environment overlooking the course.
