SCOTTSDALE, AZ- Legacy of the Links, LLC, announces today its 2016 Top 100 Invitational will be co-hosted by Friar’s Head (Baiting Hollow, NY) and Sebonack Golf Club (Southampton, NY) on September 26-27. Each year this invitational is contested at “Top 100” ranked courses and attracts players worldwide from other “Top 100” ranked courses. Friar’s Head is currently ranked by Golf Magazine at #31 on its Top 100 Courses in the World list, while Sebonack Golf Club is ranked #94 in Golf Digest’s recently published list of World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses.
“We could not be more excited to have two iconic private clubs such as Friar’s Head and Sebonack Golf Club as our 2016 hosts, with participants playing Sebonack on September 26th and Friar’s Head the following day,” said Kevin McGrath, Co-Founder of Legacy of the Links, a specialist golf travel and event management company. “We are extremely grateful to both clubs for sharing our vision for this exclusive charitable golf tournament.”
According to McGrath, Event Co-founder and a Golf Magazine “Top 100” Panelist, a portion of each participants’ entry fee will constitute a charitable tax deduction with the tournament now being owned and operated by the Top 100 Invitational Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) corporation.
Friar’s Head, the world-renowned course designed by Coore & Crenshaw, has expressed great enthusiasm for the charitable golf event and the Awards Dinner it will host on Tuesday, September 27. “When we were approached about co-hosting the Top 100 Invitational, we immediately recognized the vision of the event and the opportunity to build a competitive camaraderie among members of many of the great Top 100 clubs around the world, while at the same time generating much needed funds for worthy charities,” said Adam McDaid, Head Professional at Friar’s Head. “We feel strongly that we should use our good fortune to both give back to the game of golf and help worthy charities with their endeavors as often as possible. We hope our co-hosting of this year’s event with Sebonack will lead other Top 100 ranked private clubs to follow suit, thereby helping to create a global group of passionate golfers who seek to play each other’s world-class courses while also raising funds for worthwhile causes.”
Sebonack Golf Club, uniquely co-designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Doak, has expressed its pleasure to co-host the invitational and its Top 100 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Monday, September 26. “Sebonack Golf Club is honored to be co-hosting the 2016 Top 100 Invitational event alongside Friar’s Head,” said Troy Albert, Director of Operations at Sebonack Golf Club. “When we reviewed Legacy of the Link’s vision of the event, we immediately captured the uniqueness of what they had created.
