BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA, MARCH 17, 2016 – Fairways Golf, which in 26 years has grown to be the USA’s #1 golf travel company, announced a re-branding of the corporation to simplify and eliminate confusion. Founded as Fairways Golf Travel in 1990, the company was acquired in 2009 by an investment group led by Alan B. Hale, the current company President. As part of the acquisition, the company made a minor corporate name adjustment to Fairways Golf Vacations, Inc. but continued to operate in the travel industry by the DBA name of “Fairways Golf Vacations.” In the same year, the company acquired and launched the brand, GolfThere, to simplify the website domain address and to create a new and easy to remember consumer golf travel brand. Due to the tremendous growth in the consumer brand since 2010, a large number of affiliate marketing relationships, and the desire to simplify social media channels, the company will change all corporate, golf management, and consumer golf travel channel branding to “GolfThere”, effective immediately.
Alan Hale, President, said, “Fairways Golf enjoyed 26 years of brand recognition within the golf course management community; however, over the past few years, there has been some confusion regarding our primary and now more recognized consumer brand, GolfThere (www.GolfThere.com). Many different golf industry and golf software companies use variations or the terms Fairways Golf therefore, the timing seemed ‘right’ to embrace “GolfThere” across all channels and simplify our branding.”
The company confirmed that “Fairways Golf” will remain a brand name for the receptive and international wholesaler channel. This narrow business line assists international golf tour operators to book golf trips when their volume does not warrant direct contracts with golf resorts, hotels, or golf courses in the United States. The company’s customers are mostly members of IAGTO, the International Association of Golf Tour Operators. Fairways Golf provides services nationally but is contracted to market for companies such as Pinehurst, J.W. Marriott (southwest USA), MGM Resorts International, and several state golf trails as well as other golf travel companies. Managed and licensed private label brands such as Troon Golf Vacations and Honours Golf Vacations will not be affected by any of the branding changes.
