ORLANDO, Fla. (Mar. 17, 2016) – Celebrated Austin-area golf coach Brech Spradley, one of Golf Digest magazine’s “Best Teachers” in the state of Texas as voted by his peers, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive March 22 and 23.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. Eastern.
Spradley, owner and director of instruction for the Barton Creek Golf Academy in Austin, Texas, is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Spradley is making his first appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m excited to be appearing on Morning Drive,” said Spradley, who was named to Golf Digest’s “Best Teachers in Your State” list for the second consecutive time (2013-’14 and 2015-’16). “It’s an honor to be a part of such a great group of coaches and I look forward to helping the viewers of Morning Drive with their golf games.”
The former lead instructor for the Chuck Cook Golf Academy, Spradley recently was recognized as the 2015 Southern Texas Section PGA Teacher of the Year, awarded for overall excellence in golf instruction and performance as a golf professional. Previous winners of the prestigious award, named after the legendary coach, best-selling author and World Golf Hall of Famer, Harvey Penick, include Cook, Charlie Epps, Dick Harmon, Jim Hardy and Kevin Kirk.
Known for his work with elite juniors and collegiate players, Spradley’s students have gone on to earn scholarships at such top-flight programs as Wake Forest, Texas, Arizona, Arkansas and Texas Tech. His students have been ranked as high as No. 1 and 2 in the state of Texas, as well as Top 10 in the country in the AJGA Polo Rankings.
As a Golf Channel Academy coach, Spradley continues to teach the way he knows best. The underlying philosophy of Golf Channel Academy is that the best golf “teaching” is done through “coaching” – that is, an on-going relationship between player and teacher devoted to long-lasting improvement.
