Both full-service golf facilities purchased by Atlanta-based entrepreneurs
ATLANTA (March 21, 2016) – Fox Creek and Legacy Golf Clubs, two popular golf facilities located side-by-side in Metro Atlanta’s Cobb County and the city of Smyrna, are under new ownership. Newly formed Gonna Fly Now, LLC recently acquired the clubs, situated just two miles from the new Atlanta Braves SunTrust Park stadium. The new owners will make at least $1.5 million of improvements to the golf courses and clubhouses in the first year, focusing particularly on course improvements and technology upgrades to enhance the experience of novice and experienced golfers alike.
Jim Kegley and Steve Bowen have purchased the courses, and will apply their more than 20 years of technology and real estate experience to upgrading the facilities. Also joining as members of the newly formed ownership group is Whitney Crouse and Steve Willy, of Mosaic Clubs and Resorts, an Atlanta-based golf management company whose partners and principals have experience building, owning and operating more than 200 clubs worldwide.
Legacy Golf Links is a Par-58 course with 14 par-3 holes and four par-4 holes. Fox Creek is an executive-style Par-62 course. Both courses offer large 50-tee grass driving ranges that also have practice putting and chipping areas, PGA golf instruction, and junior programs.
“We are pleased to be the new stewards of these very busy courses and driving ranges,” said Whitney Crouse, Mosaic’s Chairman, who was previously an owner of Fox Creek in the 1990s. “We welcome the existing course employees to the Mosaic family and hope to build on their ideas for improvements and hard work.”
“With more than 700,000 people and only two public courses within 10 miles of the courses, this is one of the few areas of the country where the demand for golf still exceeds supply,” continued Crouse. “With the addition of the new Braves stadium and the continued quality growth of Cobb County, we are very optimistic about their potential to please many more golfers for years to come.”
“Golf course ownership has been an objective of our long-term business strategy for some time,” said Bowen. “We are thrilled to have acquired not one, but two properties in such an ideal location.”
“We believe these courses can serve as an excellent platform for new and innovative plays around the game of golf and are excited to own such quality regional assets,” said Kegley.
