NORRISTOWN, Pa. (March 24, 2016) – Hunter Soccer Club, home to more than 1,500 youth soccer players, will continue to hold its annual charity golf outing at the Donald Ross-designed LuLu Country Club in Glenside, PA on Friday, May 13, 2016.
Hunter Soccer Club, also based in Glenside, PA, is holding its third golf outing as part of the on-going efforts to raise money for the organization’s operations and fund the Sharon A. Klein Memorial Scholarship for Girls, Norman S. Inazu Memorial Scholarship for Boys and the President’s Award for Girls or Boys.
“This event is critical to our fund raising needs at Hunter Soccer Club,” explains Bill Manchester, president of Hunter Soccer Club. “Our second major fund raiser is our Jack Walsh Tournament. This soccer tournament brings in 250 teams, which is about 10,000 people to the local area, for the weekend. With these two fundraisers we have been able to keep our registration fees the same with no increase.”
As part of the festivities for the golf outing at LuLu CC, the famous eight-inch cups will be on two separate holes. In addition, golfers will have an advantage on two other holes, as there will be three flagsticks on each of those greens. Music will again be heard throughout the day on the course provided by disc-jockey and Philadelphia radio personality, Eddie Caiazzo. There is also the opportunity to win a new car, courtesy of Conicelli Autoplex in Conshohocken, PA. A dinner banquet will be held after golf where prizes will be awarded.
“The golf outing has sold out every year and we are extremely grateful for that as well as our event sponsors,” continues Manchester. “I am also very appreciative to the many enthusiastic coaches and volunteers in our Hunter Soccer organization!”
Registration for this year’s Hunter Golf Outing can be completed online by filling out the form on www.HunterSC.com, or calling the tournament office at 610-279-9220 and requesting an entry form. They also will be available in the Hunter Clubhouse.
On October 12, 2015, LuLu’s historic clubhouse was destroyed in a two-alarm fire. With strong support from the surrounding neighborhood, its membership, staff, ownership and the Philadelphia area golf community, LuLu has been able to sustain golf operations at full strength with a full roster of outings booked for the 2016 season.
“It’s a great honor for us to be able to continue to help a local organization raise money for a great cause,” states Jon Rusk, head professional at LuLu Country Club. “The Hunter Soccer Club and its board members have made this day very special, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for this year’s event.”
After two straight sold-out golf outings at LuLu, Hunter Soccer Club once again has selected TL Golf Services to provide infrastructure, planning and staffing for the event. A remote broadcast recording of the award-winning GolfTalk Live radio show – a media property of TL Golf Services – will also take place during the dinner banquet providing media exposure for the event.
“The radio show has become part of the festive nature of the day,” says Tony Leodora, host of GolfTalk Live. “We interview guests from the tournament and bring a bit of the excitement of the day to our listeners.”
