(BOERNE, Texas) – Cordillera Ranch – the Hill Country’s premier luxury community featuring a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course – announces Bryan Gathright has joined its golf instruction staff.
Gathright comes to Cordillera Ranch from San Antonio’s Oak Hills Country Club, where he was the Director of Instruction. A GOLF Magazine “Top 100 Teacher in America” for the past 16 years, Gathright is a fixture in the Hill Country golf community. He was the original director of instruction at both the La Cantera Golf Academy and the Harvey Penick Golf Academy – where he worked alongside the teaching legend for nearly three years.
At Cordillera Ranch, Gathright will team with Director of Instruction Gevin Allen and Golf Fitness Instructor Ann-Kristin Allen to enrich the club’s teaching program. The partnership combines Gathright’s proven instructional principles with the Allens’ highly-certified golf fitness program. Their combined areas of expertise will also strengthen the club’s junior golf platforms.
“We are pleased to have Bryan as a part of the Cordillera Ranch family,” says Charlie Hill, President and Chief Operating Officer for DH Investments, developer of Cordillera Ranch. “Gevin has been instrumental in developing the Cordillera Golf program for players of all caliber, and Bryan is a perfect fit to work together with Gevin to help enhance and grow our golf program. The quality of golf operations management, staff and teaching professionals is at the top of the ranks for any club in the country, and adding Bryan perfectly complements this group.”
Under Gathright’s tutelage, five players with no previous Tour experience secured their PGA TOUR cards, including Jimmy Walker and Notah Begay III. He has taught numerous other PGA, Champions and LPGA Tour professionals, and over 200 high school golfers who have gone on to play collegiate golf.
“I’ve known Bryan for over 20 years and his dedication to the game of golf and commitment to excellence are outstanding,” says Cordillera Ranch Director of Golf Marc DeWall. “As a Top 100 instructor, he has improved players of all abilities. I look forward to him working closely with Gevin and Ann-Kristin as we continue to build one of the very best teaching programs in the country for our members.”
Gathright has been named a Golf Digest Top Teacher in Texas the past 12 years, and one of Edwin Watts Golf’s Top Teachers in America. A two-time Southern Texas PGA Teacher of the Year, he has had numerous articles published in Golf Magazine, Golf Digest and many other publications. He also co-hosts a weekly golf show on Austin radio.
“Bryan is one of the top golf professionals in the country and we’re honored he’s joined the Cordillera Ranch family,” says Gevin Allen. “He will help make the Cordillera Ranch Player Development Program even better.”
Considered one of the most desirable Hill Country addresses, Cordillera Ranch continues to grow at a rapid pace. It recently unveiled its newest neighborhood – The Springs of Cordillera Ranch – combining modern amenities with a traditional Texas Hill Country setting.
Community honors continue to roll in as well. The Dallas Morning News ranked the golf course top-5 in Texas for the seventh consecutive year, and Where to Retire Magazine named Cordillera Ranch one of the “50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the U.S.”
“Bryan’s addition ideally complements what Gevin and Ann-Kristin have already built to create one of the most sought-after player development programs in the industry,” says Monty Becton, general manager at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch. “The team’s stellar credentials and passion for golf further elevates Cordillera Ranch’s standing as the Hill Country’s premier golf club.”
“The respect and admiration I have for the Hill family and the Cordillera Ranch staff has me incredibly excited to join the team,” Gathright adds. “I am more energetic and enthused about teaching golf because of this opportunity.”
