ORLANDO, Fla. (Mar. 24, 2016) – Celebrated Boston-area golf coach Cathy MacPherson, one of the top teachers in the New England region, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive March 29 and 30.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. Eastern.
MacPherson, owner of Cathy MacPherson Golf at Ferncroft Country Club in Middleton, Mass., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; MacPherson is making her first appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m excited to be appearing on Morning Drive,” said MacPherson, a fixture on Golf for Women magazine’s Top 50 Teachers list from 2000 to 2008. “It’s an honor to be a part of such a great group of coaches and I look forward to helping the viewers of Morning Drive with their golf games.”
A Class “A” LPGA teaching professional, MacPherson is one of only 30 golf professionals to achieve Masters Certified Golf Coach status from the Certified Golf Coaches Association, a program headed by Dr. Rick Jensen and Golf Channel Academy lead coach Henry Brunton designed to provide top instructors with advanced coaching tools and strategies. She’s also been recognized as one of the “Best Teachers” in the New England Region by Golf Magazine.
An active member of the Board of Trustees for the Greater New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Cathy has led many golf clinics for such worthy causes as the Special Olympics, The Lupus Foundation and The MS Society. She is also a member of Toastmasters, an organization that empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders. Cathy won the Fall Speech Competition at the Club, Area and Division levels and was among eight finalists in the District Competition-composed of more than 5,000 members from Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
As a Golf Channel Academy coach, MacPherson continues to teach the way she knows best. The underlying philosophy of Golf Channel Academy is that the best golf “teaching” is done through “coaching” – that is, an on-going relationship between player and teacher devoted to long-lasting improvement.
