LAKE MARY, FL (March 31, 2016) – Five golfers will have the chance to play their way into the 2016 World Amateur Golfers Tour Championship National Finals when they compete at the 26th Annual ING Spring Conference May 22-26 at Zermatt Resort in the Heber Valley region of Utah.
Anyone in the golf industry or media is invited to attend the conference, conducted by the non-profit International Network of Golf, where media and the golf industry connect. Industry executives from companies large and small, and from every segment of the industry, will join golf media of all types at this annual gathering. Call 407-328-0500 or visit www.inggolf.com for details.
Several new products will be launched at the ING Spring Conference. Golf equipment companies will be on hand to display products for testing by dozens of media members representing a combined audience of millions of golfers. There will also be educational sessions geared toward the conference theme, “Bridging Golf’s Generation Gap.”
The WAGT National Qualifier will take place on Monday afternoon May 23rd on the spectacular Mountain Course at Wasatch Mountain Golf Club. The ING competition is sanctioned by the World Amateur Golfers Tour USA, a series of tournaments across the U.S. leading into the national finals in September. This is the fifth year that ING has hosted a national qualifying tournament for WGAT. Visit http://www.wgatusa.com/ for more information.
This individual net stroke play event will be divided into five flights based on handicap. The winner of each flight will advance to the WAGT National Finals Sept. 20-22 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, IN. Entry fee and accommodations will be complimentary at Swan Lake for the five ING qualifiers. And as ING member John Duval did last year, flight winners at the nationals qualify for an expenses-paid trip to the World Championships in early December in South Africa to represent the USA.
Also on the Mountain Course that day, a four-player Team Scramble will be conducted. Players can choose which competition they wish to play. The Mountain Course was completed in 1996 and at 6,000 feet above sea level offers lots of elevation changes and spectacular views of the Heber Valley.
The 9th Annual Durland Cup Team Scramble will take place Wednesday at the highly ranked Soldier Hollow Golf Club’s Gold Course, which hosted the 2012 Publinx National Championship. This event is named in honor of ING’s first golf chair, Larry Durland, who passed away in 2015.
Former LPGA Tour and current LPGA Legends Tour player Kris Tschetter will serve as the conference Emcee. Tschetter is the new Director of Community Relations for 18Birdies, a new integrated golf platform powering the next generation of golf technology. She will guide attendees through a full and exciting schedule of events. The schedule includes:
• The ever-popular One-On-One Appointment Show, where exhibitors will have pre-scheduled, 15-minute private meetings with media and attendees of their choice;
• The Demo Lab, where manufacturers will display their latest clubs and training aids for attendees to test first-hand;
• Educational seminars and workshops focused on the “Bridging Golf’s Generation Gap” theme;
• Plus, the many networking sessions that ING is famous for.
