Six-time major winner renews relationship with long-time partner
Norcross, Ga. (April 4, 2016) – Mizuno, a global leader in golf technology and performance, is pleased to announce the return of one of its most successful partnerships with the addition of Sir Nick Faldo to its family of brand ambassadors. A six-time major champion with more than 40 career professional victories, Faldo is regarded as one of the game’s greatest champions.
“All of my greatest successes on the course came with Mizuno by my side, and I’m excited to come home and embark on a new partnership with a long-time friend,” said Faldo. “Mizuno’s commitment to excellence is what drives everything they do, and it’s why Mizuno is the best in the industry. To start this new chapter on the 20th anniversary of my final major championship victory is the perfect way to kick off my return.”
A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Faldo was at his best during the pressure-packed major championships. He picked up two of his three wins in The Masters in sudden death playoffs, while winning his third and final The Open Championship with two birdies in the last four holes to track down the leader.
“We’re excited to welcome Nick back home to the Mizuno family,” said Mike Puccini, Senior Director, Brand Management. “Throughout his remarkable career, Nick has been a tireless ambassador for the game of golf, as well as the Mizuno brand. Whether it’s in his role as a golf analyst for Golf Channel and CBS or through the work he’s done to grow the game with the Faldo Series, Nick’s legacy has only grown since his playing days. Nick is one of the greatest golfers of all time, and his affiliation with the Mizuno brand will add renewed focus to our unyielding efforts to create the products that make every golfer a better player.”
Beyond his many accomplishments on the course, Faldo has given back to the game of golf in many ways, including the launch of the Faldo Series in 1996. The Faldo Series mission is to help give opportunities to young people through golf, while also identifying and nurturing the next generation of champions. The Series is supported by golf’s major governing bodies and hosts 40 annual tournaments in 30 countries across the world.
Faldo was awarded the MBE in 1998 and then made a Knight Bachelor in 2009 for his commitment to the game of golf. He also was named a recipient of the Payne Stewart Award in 2014 in honor of his respect for the traditions of the game and commitment to uphold golf’s heritage of charitable support.
