ORLANDO, Fla. (April 7, 2016) – Celebrated PGA Tour player, golf coach and commentator Bobby Clampett, the first lifetime member of the PGA Tour to be named a PGA Master Professional in Teaching and Coaching, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive April 12 and 13.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. Eastern.
Clampett, the founder and CEO of Impact Zone Golf, with two locations in Naples, Fla., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf.
“I’m excited to be appearing on Morning Drive,” said Clampett, a three-time All-American and two-time Haskins Award winner as the most outstanding collegiate golfer of the year while at BYU. “It’s an honor to be a part of such a great group of coaches and I look forward to helping the viewers of Morning Drive with their golf games.”
Clampett turned professional in 1980 and enjoyed 16 seasons on the PGA Tour, winning once and notching nearly three dozen top-10 finishes, including a T-3rd at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links in 1982. He joined the PGA Tour Champions in 2010, where he accumulated seven additional top-5 finishes.
In 2008, Clampett founded Impact Zone Golf, a revolutionary Impact-Based® training system that concentrates on improving a player’s impact position rather than his or her “style” of swing. The program is based on Clampett’s best-selling instructional book, The Impact Zone: Mastering Golf’s Moment of Truth, written with Andy Brumer and published in 2007.
Perhaps best known as an on-course reporter and lead golf analyst for CBS Sports and Turner Sports, Clampett continues to provide commentary for CBSSports.com at The Masters and PGA Championship. Clampett will be calling his 25th consecutive Masters this week at Augusta National Golf Club.
As a Golf Channel Academy coach, Clampett continues to teach the way he knows best. The underlying philosophy of Golf Channel Academy is that the best golf “teaching” is done through “coaching” – that is, an on-going relationship between player and teacher devoted to long-lasting improvement.
