ORLANDO, Fla. (April 21, 2016) – Former professional golfer Rob Strano, an honorable mention U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Youth Instructor, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive April 26 and 27.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. Eastern.
Strano, owner and director of instruction for the Strano Golf Academy at Kelly Plantation Golf Club in Destin, Fla., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Strano is making his first appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to appear on Morning Drive and share my insights on the golf swing and how to practice better,” said Strano, a native of St. Louis, Mo., who played golf at the same Belleville, Ill., country club as 1968 Masters winner Bob Goalby, and Jay and Jerry Haas. “It’s been a great experience to be a part of the Golf Channel Academy network of coaches. The quality and diversity of the team is something I’m very proud to be associated with.”
Strano competed professionally for 15 years across several U.S. tours-including the PGA, Web.com and NGA Hooters Tours-winning five times. He began his teaching career at Pine Needles Resort in Pinehurst, N.C., and since opening the Strano Golf Academy in 2003, has helped more than 40 students go on and play collegiate golf.
In 2003, Strano developed a nationwide outreach program for deaf children, teaching them how to play golf in sign language. As the director of the United States Deaf Golf Camps, Rob travels the country conducting instruction clinics for the deaf at various PGA and LPGA Tour events.
As a Golf Channel Academy coach, Strano continues to teach the way he knows best. The underlying philosophy of Golf Channel Academy is that the best golf “teaching” is done through “coaching” – that is, an on-going relationship between player and teacher devoted to long-lasting improvement.
