WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia, USA (April 22, 2016) GOLFZON, the world’s largest golf simulator company, and the Executive Women’s Golf Association, the largest women-focused national amateur golf association, have announced a national partnership focused on alternative measures via GOLFZON’s array of simulators for women to become more involved in golf.
The announcement came on the first day of the EWGA’s 25th Anniversary Celebration in Williamsburg, Va. Tommy Lim, the Vice President of the EU and American Business division for GOLFZON, spoke at Friday’s Welcome Dinner in advance of the weekend conference schedule. Lim was in San Francisco earlier this week at the LPGA’s Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic where LPGA player Alison Lee signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with GOLFZON.
“Partnering with the EWGA gives GOLFZON an opportunity to provide alternative ways to enjoy the game for the fastest growing and a most important segment of the golf population,” Lim said. “In South Korea, GOLFZON has engaged existing golfers to play more and brought more people into the game, including an abundance of female golfers who have learned the game on simulators and became some of the very best players in the world on the LPGA.”
In 1991, most women in the United States workplace found themselves staffing the office while their male counterparts entertained clients on the golf course. EWGA founder Nancy Oliver set out to change that and organized a business women’s golf clinic in West Palm Beach, Fla., thereby starting a movement that became the Executive Women’s Golf Association. By 1995, there were 90 EWGA chapters throughout the United States. Today, EWGA has chapters located in more than 100 U.S. cities as well as international chapters in Bermuda, Canada and Italy. EWGA members contribute $65 million annually to the U.S. golf economy. The organization holds thousands of golf, social and networking opportunities throughout the country as well as major national competitions and events. Its members include a diverse group of women from beginners to experienced golfers and a broad spectrum of career paths.
“Engaging and nurturing consumers who have an interest in golf is so important for the sport and its future,” said Pam Swenson, the CEO of the EWGA. “With the increasingly popular acceptance of alternative golf experiences in the U.S., GOLFZON’s foray into the U.S. is exciting. Its hugely successful international growth in capturing golf enthusiasts – fans and players alike – offers consumers here a new avenue to get in the game and get hooked on golf. The EWGA and women’s golfers all over the world look forward to exploring ways that we can connect with GOLFZON’s technologically advanced golf simulators to create even more positive engagement.”
Open to everyone, the EWGA 25th Anniversary Celebration and Golf Experience has a star studded line-up that includes golf legend Nancy Lopez, PGA of America board officer Suzy Whaley and keynote speaker Dawn Hudson, chief marketing officer of the National Football League. The conference package includes a commemorative gift bag, two rounds of golf, admission to historic Colonial Williamsburg, several dinners and other meals, parties and numerous fun activities.
