MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., April 25, 2016 – Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the most prolific and influential golf course architect of the 20th century may have passed away nearly 20 years ago, but his memory and legacy lives on through golf courses across the world.
This September, the Dunes Golf & Beach Club will host the 12th Annual Meeting of the Robert Trent Jones Society – a society formed to honor and preserve the work of the influential golf designer.
The three-day annual meeting will take place September 23-25 and feature multiple speakers, a cocktail party, evening banquet, the annual business meeting and an informal 36-hole golf tournament. Meeting attendees will include representatives from some of the top courses in the country. The Dunes Golf & Beach Club will be among the presenters for the weekend and will discuss the history of the award-winning Myrtle Beach course.
The Dunes Golf & Beach Club is one of 17 Robert Trent Jones Society member courses from nine different states and Spain. The exclusive list of courses includes Spyglass Hill Golf Course (Pebble Beach, Calif.), the host of the PGA Tour’s annual AT&T Invitational.
“To host the Robert Trent Jones Society annual meeting is a great honor,” said Dunes Golf & Beach Club President Dr. James Merritt, IV. “We are looking forward to sharing The Dunes Golf & Beach Club with the members of the Robert Trent Jones Society. The Dunes Golf & Beach Club offers a great location for this meeting and the weekend will be a memorable experience for all involved.”
