Sweepstakes offers chance to win golf trip by showing appreciation for golf course superintendents
Lawrence, Kan. (April 26, 2016) – If you appreciate golf course superintendents as much as some of the greatest golfers and celebrities in world, let the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) know, and you could win a trip to the 2016 American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, July 21-24, at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
The sweepstakes is part of GCSAA’s “Thank a Golf Course Superintendent” campaign. Commercials from the campaign will began airing on the Golf Channel in early April and features a montage of clips from players and celebrities. In a specific commercial with celebrities targeting the sweepstakes, Charles Barkley, Justin Timberlake, John Elway and others share the message, “If you love golf like I do, thank a golf course superintendent.”
Entering the sweepstakes is simple. If you are at least 21 years of age, visit http://www.gcsaa.org/thankasuper to enter by thanking a superintendent you know. You can also tweet your message using the hashtags #thankasuper or #contestentry. You’ll be automatically entered to win a trip for two, including airfare, lodging and tickets, to the 2016 American Century Celebrity Golf Championship that likely will again include all of the celebrities in the commercial. The superintendent thanked will be entered to win a special prize too! The sweepstakes kicks off May 1 and closes May 31, 2016.
The Championship, in its 27th year, welcomes more than 90 celebrities and is televised by NBC, NBC Sports Network and the Golf Channel.
Superintendents have also won the heart of Arnold Palmer, whose father and brother were both golf course superintendents. Palmer has said that the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) is “the single most important entity in golf today.
“We as golfers also owe our gratitude to these professionals who have pushed themselves to higher standards of education, training and performance that have resulted in making golf a more enjoyable game. Those who derive income, either as a competitor or as a businessman, are equally indebted to the superintendents for their contributions,” Palmer said.
Superintendents manage and protect the game’s most important asset – the golf course. Not only do they manage all labor, materials and costs associated with keeping a course at its finest, they are also involved in the business-related activities of the facility. Superintendents strive to keep the environment safe while keeping their courses healthy and beautiful. Through their efforts, superintendents help enhance the enjoyment of the game of golf.
“Superintendents do their best to provide great playing conditions within the realm of keen environmental stewardship,” said Rhett Evans, GCSAA CEO. “We want to give golfers the chance to recognize and thank a superintendent for contributing so much to the game they love, and we’ll give them the chance to attend the top celebrity championship in beautiful Tahoe.”
