PHOENIX (April 27, 2016) – Junior Golf University (JGU) is excited to welcome leading rangefinder company Bushnell Golf as a new sponsor of its flagship program, PING Junior Interclub (PJI).
Bushnell Golf is the #1 provider of rangefinders in the industry, and has been a leader in high-performance sports optics for more than 65 years, with product lines for outdoor pursuits including spectator sports, nature study, hunting, fishing and birding. The company is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas.
For PING Junior Interclub, Bushnell will supply its new Tour V4 rangefinders as prizes at select tournaments, for prize drawings, and more. In return, Bushnell will be the presenting sponsor of the Arizona and Oklahoma state championships, have exposure on the JGU website, and market its products at PJI events.
“I am thrilled to add another world-class brand to our stable of sponsors,” said John Souza, Executive Director of the Junior Golf University. “Bushnell produces the best rangefinders in golf and I am looking forward to them being a part of the Junior Golf University family.”
National Sales Representative Ryne Fisher said Bushnell Golf is excited to be part of PJI’s efforts to grow the game at the junior level. “Sparking an interest in golf at an early age is of keen interest to us, and PING Junior Interclub is a highly regarded and well-run organization that instills what we hope becomes a lifelong passion for the sport,” Fisher said. “PJI provides a unique opportunity for young people to experience team golf, and we’re proud to be on board.”
The PJI tournament series is managed by JGU, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Phoenix. The PJI provides junior golfers (boys and girls, ages 12-18) with team-based tournaments. Five-person teams are formed by private, public and resort-style golf courses. Each team competes in PJI Divisional tournaments, one event hosted by each course within a Division. Top finishers from each Division advance to post-season play.
JGU provides online tournament management for PJI events and administrative support to PJI teams. In 2008, eight teams from the Phoenix area participated in the first season of the PJI. The program has experienced tremendous growth, expanding in 2015 to more than 70 teams with over 500 junior golfers in four states.
Bushnell joins bluemedia®, PING®, Under Armour®, Aldila®, ECCO®, FlexFit, Golfweek®, and CMC Golf as a sponsor.
