JERSEY CITY, N.J. (May 12, 2016) – Paul Fireman, founder and former chairman of Reebok and current chairman of Fireman Capital Partners, kicked off the inaugural First Tee mentoring program he and his son, Dan, are spearheading with a private luncheon at the Fireman-owned Liberty National Golf Club.
The intimate 90-minute lunch gave the four “mentees” – Jeremy Steenvoorden, Lily Anderson, Cameron Dawkins and Adia Morris – ample opportunities to ask questions of Fireman about his success in the business world and seek advice from him on their own career paths. As a youth growing up in Brockton, Mass., Fireman shared how he began working as a caddy, where he learned to appreciate the game of golf for its many virtues.
The four mentees also were treated to a VIP tour of the stunning Liberty National Clubhouse, plus a tour of the facility’s state-of-the-art Learning Center.
It’s just one more way Fireman and Dan, managing partner of Fireman Capital Partners, are backing The First Tee, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth-development organization whose mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. In addition to the mentoring program, the Fireman family also pledged generous philanthropic contributions in support of The First Tee.
“It was exciting to see young people benefiting from The First Tee,” Fireman said. “While meeting with this particular group of two young men and two young ladies at Liberty National, it was wonderful to see that The First Tee is preparing them with essential life skills. Our conversations were not just about golf, they were about careers, goals and the determination to make their dreams a reality.”
