The Golf Club at Cuscowilla recently hosted the 9th Annual Coore Crenshaw Cup May 1 through May 3. Cuscowilla Members Skeet King, John Morgan, Shawn Hays and Head Golf Professional Chip Zimmerman competed in the Tournament on behalf of Cuscowilla along with ten other teams from across the country including Austin Golf Club, Colorado Golf Club, East Hampton Golf Club, Hidden Creek Golf Club, Outpost Club, Shanqin Bay Golf Club, Streamsong, Pinehurst, Warren Course at Notre Dame, and Clear Creek. This year the Cuscowilla team finished 1st in the Tournament; however, the most enjoyable part of this annual event is the time spent with the other Coore Crenshaw course owners, operators, and members as well as Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw themselves, two of the most respected golf course architects in the world.
The Coore Crenshaw Society was established in 2006 and the membership is comprised of over 20 golf courses throughout the world that Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw have designed. Each year, the Cup competition moves to a different Coore Crenshaw course and next year’s competition will be held at Clear Creek in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Jarrod Clark, General Manager, stated “The entire weekend was a huge success. We had great weather, the golf course was in prime condition for this time of year, and we were in some of the best company who appreciates the work of the dynamic Coore/Crenshaw duo. They were very pleased with the results of changes that we have made to improve the course over the past few years and the decision to make the golf course completely private. It was a privilege to host the Cup this year and winning it was only the icing on the cake.”
