‘Fundu’ app shares city-specific suggestions for events, activities and attractions based on users’ pre-set preferences
(SEATTLE) – Annika Sorenstam – golf Hall of Famer and creator of the ANNIKA brand of businesses – has selected Seattle as the first U.S. city to be featured on Fundu, her free, just-launched app.
Powered by a proprietary recommendation engine, Fundu shares city-specific suggestions for events, restaurants, activities and attractions based on users’ pre-set preferences. Annika and her team have designed a virtual “fun finder” unique to the market that eliminates the time, work and frustration frequently accompanying manual internet searches. Fundu is for people of all ages and from every walk of life who want to be “in the know” about what’s happening either in their home city or when visiting elsewhere.
“We chose Seattle to launch because it’s a super-vibrant city with so much going on every single day, making it the perfect place to showcase the power and utility of Fundu,” says Annika, in town this week for KPMG’s second-annual Women’s Leadership Summit in advance of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Sahalee C.C. “When combined with my involvement with this tremendous tournament, we thought it was a fantastic opportunity.”
Now available from the App Store, navigating Fundu is extremely intuitive. When users first sign up, they’re asked to select personal interests based on designated categories such as “Food,” “Entertainment,” “Shopping” and “Arts.” These selections are then used by Fundu to offer recommendations and alerts based on the user’s interests and location within a specified timeframe. Fundu becomes “smarter” the more one uses it, further drilling down on favorite events and activities. Other features include the ability for users to check and leave reviews, buy tickets at the push of a button and connect with friends.
Adds Annika: “Fundu makes our hectic lives easier and more interesting; I got tired of searching for things to do, places to eat or exhibits to see. Now, it’s all at your fingertips, curated specifically for you based on your personal preferences.”
Inspired in part by Annika’s Swedish heritage, Fundu’s name plays off the word “du” (which translates to “you”). At the same time, it’s a humorous take on “fun do.”
In the coming weeks, plans call for Fundu to launch in the Bay Area and Orlando, Fla., followed by New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and other U.S. cities this fall. Future goals include launching Fundu internationally.
