ORLANDO, Fla. (June 21, 2016) – Renowned Southern California coach Randy Chang, a former PGA Teacher of the Year in both the Aloha Section (2002) and Southern California Section(2010), is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on June 22.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. Eastern.
Chang, the founder of the Randy Chang Golf School at Journey at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Chang is making his first appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to appear on Morning Drive and to share my favorite tips, including the ‘Chang Chip,’ with the viewers at home,” said Chang, who has been teaching professionally for more than 35 years. “It’s been a great experience to be a part of the Golf Channel Academy network of coaches. The quality and diversity of the team is something I’m very proud to be associated with.”
A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Chang competed at the University of Portland and played various professional mini-tours in Southern California and Canada. He has served various roles in the golf professional industry, from head professional and general manager to director of golf and teaching professional/custom club fitter.
Chang’s specialty is coaching young junior golfers, which includes the Tiny Tees Golf program (ages 3 to 6) at Journey at Pechanga. In 2015, his work with kids was recognized by receiving the SCPGA Youth Player Development Award. Chang was also named a Golf Tips magazine National Top 30 Instructor in 2014.
As a Golf Channel Academy coach, Chang continues to teach the way he knows best. The underlying philosophy of Golf Channel Academy is that the best golf “teaching” is done through “coaching” – that is, an on-going relationship between player and teacher devoted to long-lasting improvement.
