Orlando, Fla. (June 22, 2016) – Rick Sellers, one of the leading golf coaches in the Midwest, has been named an instructor for Golf Channel Academy.

Named the Illinois PGA Teacher of the Year in 2004, Sellers is among the game’s most influential and recognizable teachers who have established a dedicated network of instruction facilities with the active support of Golf Channel, the game’s leading global multimedia and golf entertainment source.

“I’m very excited to be among these dynamic coaches associated with the Golf Channel Academy,” said Sellers, who is the owner of Rick Sellers Golf, located at The Links at Ireland Grove in Bloomington, Ill., a two-hour drive southwest of Chicago. “This is a chance for golf coaches to work together, learning from one another and adopting best practices in both coaching, to better serve the golfing public. My goal is to help our clients learn to play, play better and enjoy playing golf more.”

Launched in April 2015, Golf Channel Academy is the first network of its kind devoted to efficiently growing the business of golf instruction. With 70 locations, Golf Channel Academy will be inviting additional coaches to become part of the network as it continues to grow.

Sellers is the 2004 PGA Teacher of the Year in the Illinois Section and a two-time Central Illinois Chapter PGA Teacher of the Year (2007, 2010). A PGA member since 1982, Sellers served as a club professional at several clubs in Illinois before becoming a full-time instructor in 2000. Among Sellers’ most notable current and former students are PGA Tour and Champions Tour winner Peter Jacobsen and PGA Tour winner D.A. Points.

A native of Quincy, Ill., Sellers grew up with former PGA Tour player D.A. Weibring, Jr. Sellers played for the University of Missouri golf team and on the Florida professional mini-tours before getting into coaching.

Sellers enjoys teaching golfers of all age groups and abilities and provides tour, corporate, individual, group, and junior golf instruction programs. He is also a frequent keynote speaker for many professional and civic organizations offering his observations of how golf and life experiences run parallel to one another.

For many years Sellers has been associated with the University High boys and girls golf teams in Normal, Ill., helping both squads to multiple state championships.
