JERSEY CITY, N.J., (June 28, 2016) – New Jersey native Morgan Hoffmann, a member of the PGA TOUR since 2011, has committed to participate in The First Tee Classic at Liberty National Club on Monday, August 22nd. The annual event is a benefit for the four non-profit chapters of The First Tee in New Jersey.
Hoffmann will conduct an interactive golf clinic at noon prior to the 1:00 p.m. shotgun start. The event is capped with a reception and awards program at 5:30 p.m.
Hoffmann, 26, was born in Franklin Lakes, where he attended Ramapo High School and captured back-to-back New Jersey high school state championships. He went on to attend Oklahoma State University and was a first team All-American in both his freshman and sophomore seasons.
With nearly $4 million in career earnings, Hoffmann turned in a career-best third-place finish at the BMW Championship in 2014. Earlier this season, he finished T13 at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
As part of an unprecedented 25-year partnership with the PGA TOUR, the Fireman family, founders of Liberty National Golf Club, have committed to donate $5 million to The First Tee. Half of this total donation is earmarked specifically for the four non-profit New Jersey Chapters – Essex and Plainfield, Monmouth and Ocean, Raritan Valley and Greater Trenton – that will benefit from the annual outing at Liberty National Golf Club
The four chapters are official hosts of the golf outing and fundraiser. Their mission is to positively impact the lives of local young people by providing structured educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
Last year, nearly 64,000 young people were reached through programs that seamlessly incorporate The First Tee Nine Core Values and character-building life skills lessons with golf. The chapters have a goal to reach 125,000 young people by 2020, with the support of local individuals and businesses committed to The First Tee’s mission.
The centerpiece of the August 22nd event, Liberty National Golf Club is the site of The Presidents’ Cup in 2017. It also has hosted The Barclays – the first event of the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs – in 2009 and 2013.
